Classroom Rules & Management Plan
My Promises
I made two promises to my students on the first week of school...
"I promise to follow my classroom management plan exactly as we’ve learned it and every time someone misbehaves."
"I promise to never yell in anger, get mad at you, or in any way treat you with disrespect."
The reason I made these promises is to protect their right to learn and enjoy school without being bothered, bullied, or interrupted.
Classroom Rules
Listen and follow directions.
Raise your hand before leaving your seat.
Keep your hands and feet to yourself.
Respect your classmates and your teacher.
Classroom Management Plan
Strike 1: Warning - If the student is not following the classroom rules, then I give a friendly reminder to the student that they need to remember to follow the expectations.
Strike 2: Teacher Redirection - My redirection strategy is different depending on the situation. For example, if a student is talking in a group with their friend instead of working, then I move them to a different seat so they can focus better.
Strike 3: Minor/Major Referral - If this is the first time a student gets three strikes, then they will have a conversation with me at the end of the period. Additionally, I will submit a minor referral to an administrator and send a message home to their family, explaining what happened. If the student continues to not follow the classroom rules over multiple days, then the consequence will be more serious as a major referral. I will continue to be in communication with our administrator and the student's family as we seek to help the student be a successful member of our class.
